Lost on Vacation! :O

Updated: Feb 5

Last year, we went to a hotel called Sol Caribe in Punta Cana. On our way there we got lost. Getting lost in DR is not fun at all. There are no street signs, but there are signs to tell you were what hotel is where. The hotel we were staying at wasn't available to be found on that particular sign or anywhere. We went around the area, passing by other expensive hotels. Still there was nothing. We turned into smaller streets to see if some people knew about the hotel. The people said they didn't know where to find it. So then we went to some other people that were near the hotel we were suppose to stay at. We spent about two to three hours looking for the hotel when it was around the block.

Why couldn't we find the hotel?

The reason why we couldn't find the hotel is because the owners were in the process of changing the name and building up the hotel. The Sol Caribe was called Caribe Sol before we came. There was a lot of confusion. As we arrived, there were wild chickens roaming the area. In the center of the hotel was a pool, which was perfect and not too far away.

The Hotel

Our rooms were on the third floor. The hotel did not have a elevator. So we had to carry our luggage with the help of the workers from the hotel. After finding the hotel, we were exhausted. Everyone else rested, while I filmed my review on Kylie Cosmetics' velvet liquid lipstick and matte liquid lipstick. Later on we went to a restaurant to eat. We walked to one close by the hotel. The restaurant was outside and wasn't too busy.

The Food

We sat down, ordered the food, and waited. When we asked for bread, the bread was so small. It wasn't enough to fill me up and there was small amount of bread in the basket. There was a long wait for our dinner. A couple near us was served before we received our food, and they left before our food arrived. When the food came, waiting more than an hour was not worth the time. There was small portions of the food. Smaller than portions I would eat, and I do not eat too much. After we finished eating the bill came. They overcharged my mom. The lady said that they charge people with double the tips. It didn't make sense, and we didn't eat there again.

Next Day

Next morning, we went to a restaurant that was in the corner called, "Kat's Corner." The food was better and the price was better too. But in the morning we had free breakfast because of the connection with the hotel. After having breakfast, we headed towards the beach and spent the rest of the day there. The beach was so beautiful. The waters were cleaner than the Atlantic Ocean back in Jersey or anywhere on the east cost. The clouds looked so soft and pure.

My summer vacation in DR overall was amazing. I love going out of New Jersey, exploring different places. I'm not sure when the next I'll go back. I hope I go back soon. I would definitely recommend going to DR, but if you go alone, know your Spanish! It's very important, if you don't people will take an advantage of you. Have fun! :)
